Frequently asked questions

Is Stride really free if I self-host?

Yes. The whole codebase is open source under the MIT license. Run it on your own machine, your own server, or your own Kubernetes cluster. You owe us nothing.

Who counts toward the 3-person limit on a free board?

Only the human members of the board, including its owner. Agents — Claude, Gemini, OpenCode, Codex, your own — never count. They authenticate via API tokens scoped to a board and a user, and there is no per-agent fee. Boards in an Organization have no member limit.

Can I switch between self-hosted and hosted later?

Yes, both ways, and the data model is the same. An Organization's org-admins export a workspace from its workspace settings, and we import it on the other side. On the free plan, email [email protected] and we will help you move.

Do you offer a discount for non-profits or open-source projects?

Yes. Email [email protected] with a short note about your project and we will set you up.
